Dry Eye

Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a condition in which a person doesn’t have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye. The eyes don’t produce enough tears or the right quality of tears to be healthy or comfortable. Dry eye syndrome is caused by a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication and moisture on the surface of the eye. Dry eyes may occur if our eyes don’t produce enough tears or if any our eyes produces poor-quality tears. Dry eye syndrome also called dry eye disease (DED) is one of the most common eye conditions worldwide 

Tear Breakup Time Test

Schirmer Tear Test and Tear break up test may reveal amount of dry eye. Symptoms of dry eye syndrome include Burning sensation, Itchy eyes, Heavy eyes, Fatigued eyes, Dryness sensation, Red eyes, Photophobia, Blurred vision, Foreign body sensation, Watery eyes also can be a symptom of dry eye syndrome.

A number of factors can increase our risk of dry eyes. Like Computer use, Contact lens wear. Aging, Menopause, Indoor environment Outdoor environment, frequent flying, Smoking, Health conditions, Medications and Eyelid problem.
