LASER THERAPY

LASER (LIGHT AMPLIFICATION STIMULATED EMMISION RADIATION) termed by “GORDAN GOULD” in 1959. Laser therapy uses a beam of light (laser beam) to treat certain ocular problems. It helps to prevent the growth of new blood vessels in people with diabetic retinopathy, it also used to reduce swelling that affect the macula, also helpful for reducing the myopia, hypermetropia & astigmatism. Laser treatment is done in the clinic and it takes about 30-60 minutes only.
SMILE LASER THERAPY (BLADE FREE LASER PROCEDURE)
SMILE LASER is one of the most advanced FDA approved laser vision correction procedure now a days. It is 3rd generation of laser therapy SMALL INCISION LENTICULE EXTRACTION “SMILE”.
Unlike the other laser therapy like PRK, LASIK there is no used of excimer laser during SMILE procedure. In this a FEMTO SECOND laser is used to cut a tiny incision in cornea and use it to remove a small piece of corneal tissue called lenticule. This reshapes the cornea and improves the vision.

 

SMILE LASER EYE SURGERY can correct up to 10.00 D of myopia. It doesn’t create a flap like LASIK; there is no risk of flap related complications after surgery. It is quiet, odorless and blade free procedure and reduces the chances of dry eye syndrome. The important point in this therapy is only age factor. The age of the patient must be at least 22 yrs old for any laser treatment or laser therapy and have no more than -0.50 D of astigmatism.
