The person who cannot wear contact lens because of an irregular cornea or any other problems, can have a second option – SCLERAL CONTACT LENS.
SCLERAL CONTACT LENS is large in diameter (14.5mm-24mm), gas permeable contact lens, especially design to vault over the entire corneal surface & rest on the white of the eye (sclera). The space between the cornea and the back surface of a sclera contact lens acts as a fluid reservoir to provide comfort for people with severe dry eyes or those who couldn’t tolerate contact lens. The normal saline is filled in sclera contact lens.
