I Welcome our New Director of Agrosciences Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kala, a retired forester, is an alumnus of FRI & Colleges, Dehradun, he had acquired certificate course in Forestry from the oldest forest College of India, Northern Forest Rangers College (1971-73), and Diploma in Forestry (1989-91) from CAOSFS, DEHRA DUN WITH Honours, and he was awarded the Best Forester award of the course. He also acquired a Management diploma from All India Management Association of India. He served with a Paper Mill for 10year duration, and joined U.P. Forest Corporation in 1980 and was absorbed in Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation, on the creation of Uttarakhand State and retired from the active service in 2008as the Regional Manager (head quarters), he received Chief Minister’s commendation in 2005, for excellence in service. He was the Principal Investigator of the most prestigious “ Vanaspati Van “ project awarded by the RCH scheme of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , for the conservation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for the state He obtained Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in from the FRI University, after his retirement from active service with the State Government. He is on the panel of faculty In Natural resource Conservation Management at FRI UNIVERSITY along with RAC and RDC members (Ph.D.) of the FRI University. Dr Kala is the Principal Advisor to the Bagwan Gramodyog Samiti, Dehradun (NGO) working on multidisciplinary aspects of livelihood enhancement in Uttarakhand. He has a knack and passion for teaching along with all the practical aspects of the agro sciences. Dr. Kala assisted Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board for over two year period as the Project Coordinator of National Mission On Himalayan Studies He was instrumental in introducing Forestry course in this college in 2011, this is his second stint with the college.
